At last there is a touch of spring in the air, the daffodils are beginning to pop up their heads, and I am finally emerging from the hibernation imposed on me not only by this winter's extreme weather but also the process of finishing one cookery book and starting to write another. They say buses always come along in threes – well, this year has been the same for me with books!
The Busy Mum's Cookbook is a distillation of nearly 25 years of planning, shopping and cooking for a growing family whilst juggling work as a magazine editor/food writer/editorial trainer. The 124 recipes are all based on 25 key ingredients that everyone has in their kitchen cupboard. All are simple to prepare and cook and the whole family should enjoy them. There are plenty of time-saving tips and ideas for short cuts and ways to make your budget go further. Best of all, the wonderful photographs were all taken by the Wealden Times' own David Merewether here in my Kent kitchen at the end of last summer.
The three recipes featured here are ones that we couldn't fit in so you are getting an exclusive preview.
The Busy Mum's Cookbook by Mary Gwynn (£20) is published by Simon & Schuster on 18 August 2011. You can pre-order a copy online at Amazon, WH Smith or Waterstones.
