As long as Bill can remember he has been fascinated by craftsmanship, quality, creativity and design. This fascination has endured and remains central to Bill Skinner Studio today. Bill studied at Sir John Cass College of Art and after graduation began working for a number of companies in London's famous Hatton Garden area. Here he learnt and discovered a gift for pattern making and soon became known as a craftsman and designer of note, working freelance, for amongst others: Asprey, Garrard and Van Cleef and Arpels.
Central to the brand's philosophy is comfort which is subjective, hence the wide range of sitting styles on offer. Its designers love fabric and scour the globe for the most beautiful colours, textures and patterns that they can find to include within the collections.
During the 1980s with his work attracting critical acclaim, Bill began working with Butler & Wilson and Vivienne Westwood, and so began a long association with the world of fashion jewellery, that continues to this day.
Drawing inspiration from his own unique history, Bill launched his first 'Bill Skinner' range in January 2012. This debut collection was a fittingly distinctive and truly stunning first offering, each piece hand carved by him and his UK studio team. In the year that followed the collection received much critical acclaim and has gone from strength to strength.
Bill Skinner Studio now has two boutiques, one in Otford and the other in Tenterden, where you can browse Bill's nature-inspired collections of costume and silver jewellery. For more information visit www.billskinnerstudio.co.uk or call 01959 525505.
